"The Bulletin Journal," Hazleton, Iowa. 05 Jan 1928

O.P. King was born at Watertown, New York, June 25, 1844, and died in Cedar Rapids, December 28, 1927. When 21 years of age he came to Buchanan county, where he resided for forty-three years, moving to Cedar Rapids. July 25, 1866, he was married to Sarah Custard, who departed this life October 13, 1921.

To this union were born three children, Frank and Will who preceded him in death, Frank dying in 1918, and Will in 1921, the year of his mother's death.

One daughter survives, Mrs. I.A. Morey, of Cedar Rapids. When he lived here he was engaged in farming and stock buying. The funeral was held Friday afternoon in the Methodist church in Hazleton, Rev. Heiserman officiating. A quartet composed of Ralph Lewis, Eugene Kiefer, G. Stone breaker and F. Cowell sang. Burial was in Hazleton cemetery. Mr. King will be missed by his friends for his kindly spirit and friendliness."

"Cedar Rapids Gazette & Republican", 28 Dec 1927:

"Oscar P. King, 83, retired stockman residing at 204 Second avenue west, died at a local hospital at 1:05 a.m. today after a short illness.

He was born in Watertown, N.Y., June 25, 1844 and had resided in Cedar Rapids for the last nineteen years. He was a former resident of Hazleton.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. I. A. Morey, Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be no services here. The body will be taken to Hazleton where services will be held in the Trinity Methodist church at a time to be set later."
