JESUP - Bertie Lou Paulus, 79 years old of the West Village Care Center, Independence, IA and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at the care center in Independence following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Paulus was born November 7, 1928, in Independence, IA the daughter of George David Pooler and Ella Blanche (Beatty) Pooler. She graduated from the Independence High School with the class of 1946. On September 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to William Henry Paulus, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, IA. Bill preceded her in death on May 10, 2007.

Bertie Lou worked as a secretary, 25 years for A.M.P.I. Dairy of Arlington, IA, before retirement. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Jesup, IA.

Mrs. Paulus is survived by 2 daughters, Laura Paulus of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rosalie Peterson of Galesville, WI, 2 sons, Ted (Donna) Paulus of Champlin, MN, Tim (Cindy) Paulus of Grimes, IA, 7 grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Doris (Chidley) McCalley of Jesup, IA, and Maxine Manson of Independence, IA.

In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Casket Bearers were Eric Paulus, Joshua Peterson, Tim Paulus, Noel Pauller, Leo Schaefers and Ted Paulus. Burial was at the Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, with Pastor Dawn Pederson officiating. Shirley Bergman was the organist.
