1926 - 2007

After fighting heart problems for many years, Ann Hopkins, age 81 of Boone passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007, in the Hospice Suite at the Boone County Hospital.

The visitation will be held Thursday evening December 27, from 4-8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning beginning at 9 a.m. with the funeral service starting at 11 a.m. All services will be held at the First Evangelical Free Church in Boone on South Story Street. Rev Raymond E. Feeck will officiate. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery of Boone.

Ann was born in Wilno, Poland November 10th, 1926. During World War II, she met and fell in love with Robert D. Hopkins. The couple married on October 16, 1946, in Frankfort, Germany. They came to Boone to make it their lifetime home.

After doing domestic work for others, she then pursued a degree of Cosmetology. Opened Ann's House of Hairstyling, which she operated for 15 years out of her home.

The most important thing to Ann was her family. When her 2 sons were participating in sports at school, she and Bob would go and watch them every chance they had. Her grandchildren were a big priority and strengthened her ties to her family. She was an active member of the First Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed cooking, auctions and was an avid housekeeper.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her husband Robert D. Hopkins of Boone; her son, Robert F. Hopkins and companion, Jeanine of Boone; her son Kenneth N. Hopkins and his companion, Carolyn of Altoona; 4 grandchildren, Jude Christopher Hopkins and his wife Cindy of Houston, Texas; Kira Nichole Helvig and her husband Josh of Des Moines; Jericho Lynne Hopkins and her companion, Steven of Ames; and Chris Macasa and his fiancé, Jordan of Bloomington, Illinois.
