Wilbur E. Fenton

Wilbur E. Fenton, 91 of Centerville, died Sunday, April 2 2006 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.

He was born the son of Edward and Bessie (Willet) Fenton on March 31, 1915 near Plano.

He graduated from Centerville Community Schools in 1933 and later attended Centerville Junior College and Iowa State Teacher College in Cedar Falls and received a teaching Degree
Wilbur taught three years before joining his father and brother on the fam north of Plano. He farmed with his brother until they both retired in 1992 and moved into Centerville. He was a member of the Chariton River Baptist Church (Brushy) and attended regularly as long as services were held. He was a great reader and had a large collection of books, but the Bible remained his favorite book. He was a very dedicated person to his family, having taken care of his aged parents an a brother for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alva Fenton on June 15, 1999; sister, Floy Hensley in August of 2005; two brother-in-law; and a great-niece.

Wilbur is survived by his sister, Beulah Mikels of Centerville; two nieces, Jane Hobart and her husband, Bob of Canton, Illinois, and Jean Downing and her husband, Jack of Bemidji, Minnesota, a nephew, Robert Hensley and his wife, Marie of Yarnell, Arizona, Nell Hensley of Chariton (wife of deceased nephew, Richard Hensley); great-niece, Wendy Noland and her husband, John of Wllman; and a great nephew, Stephen Hobart and his wife Jill and their son, Kale of Mason City.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brushy Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville.

Memorial can be made to the Brushy Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to the Schmidt Family Funderal Home at 501 North 18th Street in Centerville, Iowa 52544. Condolences can be sent at: schmidtfamilyfuneralhome.com.
