Mrs. Mary Jane Willett died at the home of. Her daughter Mrs. Edward Fenton of Plano, Friday morning, February 14, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, two days. She was born near Hillsboro, Ohio, and come to Iowa after her marriage to J. M. Willett, Mr. Willett died 23 years ago and Mrs. Willett made her home in Centerville until her advanced years made it necessary to make her home with her daughter. Her death was due to old age and she was not bedfast until the past two days.

Five children survive, Mrs. Edward Fenton of Plano, D. G. W. Willett, superintendent of schools, LaGrange, Illinois, Roscoe Willett, of LaGrange, Illinois, Vernon Willett, circulation manager of the Sacramento Bee, Sacramento, California, and Erma McDonnaughey, of Sheridan,Wyoming.

Three brothers, Ed, George and Frank Weaver, one sister, Mrs. Katie Clemens of Washington, D. C. H., Ohio also survive. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist church in Centerville and the Golden Links Sunday school class and attended the services while she was able.

Funeral arrangements are pending word from her son in California.

MARY JANE WILLETT

Mary Jane Weaver was born the daughter of James Frederick and Mary Aitken Weaver March 12, 1858, near Hillsboro, Ohio. In her girlhood she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

On January 13, 1881, she was united in marriage to Josiah Newton Willett. For the next three years they lived near Hillsboro. In 1884, they moved to the vicinity of Sobina, Ohio. In 1887 the family moved to Appanoose County, Iowa, where she resided until her death. For a time but she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Plano but became a member of a Methodist Episcopal Church in Centerville about 40 years ago.

Her husband passed away February 6, 1918. Since that time most of her life was spent in her own home in Centerville. Recently because of feebleness she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Edward Fenton.

Four children came into her Home; Bessie Inez, now Mrs. Edward Fenton, of Plano; Georgie Dolter, La Grange, Illinois; Lawrence Roscoe, La Grange, Illinois and Perry Vernon, Sacramento, California. Besides these children, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elva McConnaughey 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers and one sister survive.

Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Harris of Moberly, Missouri at the Edward Fenton home, Monday, February 17, at 10:30 AMseventeentha.m. A quartet composed of Mrs. Faye Fenton, Mrs. Flora Carter, Will Elam, and Harlie Sulcer, sang "Sweet bye and bye", "Abide with me", And "Nearer by God to Thee”, with Mrs. Jesse Elam at the Plano.

She was laid to rest in the family lot in Oakland Cemetery, Centerville.

A good mother and a tight neighbor she will be greatly missed in the home where she has spent the last years of her life.
