Orren M. Gordon Passes Away At The Hospital
Funeral service for Orren Martin Gordon, 76, was conducted Saturday afternoon in the Schutte funeral parlor by the Rev. J. Ian Fraser. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
Mr. Gordon passed away Thursday at 4:30 p.m., in the Postville Hospital where he had lived since the spring of 1935.
He was born March 19, 1863, on Henderson Prairie, a son of James and Nancy Stiles Gordon. He spent 71 years on the Gordon farm, which is located three miles southwest of Postville in Clayton county, moving to Postville when his health failed in 1935. The only other time he was away from the Gordon farm was for a short period of months when he journeyed in the west several years ago.
Mr. Gordon obtained an education by attending rural schools near his home, and continued his studies for a short time in the Postville public schools.
He was never married.
Surviving him is one brother, Edwin Gordon, who lived with him at the Postville Hospital.
