Nears Century Mark
Rossville, Ia., Jan. 6 - Jacob Johnson, who lives on a farm he purchased 70 years ago, is in his 100th year, having celebrated his 99th birthday anniversary late in December.

Mr. Johnson, always a man of splendid physique, is still in fairly good health and bids fair to round out a century of life. He is able to be about and in good weather enjoys short walks in the open. His wife died in 1922 since which time he has made his home with his son, Andrew, who is managing the farm. He has five sons and one daughter, also seven grandchildren and 17 great grand-children.

~The photo of Mr. Johnson was with the article. It isn't very good, but I thought it was worth posting in case descendants don't have a picture of him.

~Notes: Jacob Johnson died in 1934 and is buried in the Old West Paint Creek cemetery. In the "Woodmansee" burial book, his dates are incorrect, as is the notation that he has no gravemarker. A photo of he and his wife Anne's gravestone is on the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project.
