Appeals & Grievances

The IAGenWeb bylaws guarantee the right of members to appeal any decision of an IAGenWeb Officer to the full Leadership Team. If their appeal is unsuccessful, members have the right to file a grievance to be heard by a panel of their peers.

Appeals may be presented to any Leadership Team member via an email within 30 days of the decision being appealed. They must be acted on by the Leadership Team within 30 days of receipt.

When appeals are denied, grievances may be presented to any Leadership Team member via an email within 30 days of the denial. The Leadership Team has established a committee to hear any grievances that might be filed by IAGenWeb members. All IAGenWeb members with at least 2 years of service may volunteer to be in the Grievance Committee pool. When a grievance is submitted, three members of the pool will be selected at random to hear it and will report their decision to the Leadership Team within 30 days. Grievance pool members may recuse themselves for any reason. If a member recuses him/herself, a replacement name will be drawn at random. Once a member has served, he/she will be moved to a secondary list until all members on the primary list have had the opportunity to serve.

The Leadership Team will add to and/or change these specific procedures over time, based on their effectiveness in resolving whatever issues may arise.
