Gladys LaVerne BEAR, daughter of William Franklin "Frank" and Anna Pearl (SHELDEN) BEAR, was born September 2, 1918, Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa. She married Lee Homer BEAL on September 28, 1935, Creston, Union County, Iowa. Lee Homer BEAL was born in Benton, Ringgold County, Iowa, on August 25, 1912, and died in Medford, Jackson County, Oregon, on February 16, 1990. Gladys died in Redding, Shasta County, California, on May 26, 1984. Gladys and Lee were interred at Colma, San Mateo County, California.

Gladys' obituary, dated May 26, 1984, read, "Beloved wife of Lee H. BEAL; loving mother of Anna ROLTON; devoted grandmother of Gladys REYNA; loved great-grandmother of Angela, Gary and Yvonne REYNA; loving sister of Orville and Gene BEAR, Theola BARBOUR, Frata BACH and Doris CAMPBELL; aged 65 years. Private Graveside Services were held. Memorial contributions to S.F. Heart Fund. Halsted-N. Gray & Co. 4000 19th Ave."

Glady LaVerne (BEAR) and Lee Homer BEAL were the parents of one daughter, Anna Mae BEAL. Anna married first to Edward B. SHORT, Jr., and they were the parents of one daughter, Gladys Ann (SHORT) REYNA ISRAEL. Anna married second Gary John ROLSTON.
