Alexander, James P. – served as a Private in Company I, 160th Pennsylvania Infantry. He enlisted Oct 1862, discharged Aug 13, 1864 and rejoined in Company B, 209th Pennsylvania Infantry. He mustered out with his company on May 31, 1865. He was born in Pennsylvania on July 2, 1831 and died April 19, 1912 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Bell, John A. – served as a Private in Company H, 11th Illinois Cavalry. He enlisted Dec 12th, 1863 and mustered out Sep. 30, 1865. After the war he lived in Carson, Iowa, working as a carpenter.  He was born March 16, 1848 in Ohio.

Black, James M. – served as a Private in Company H, 28th Illinois Infantry. His residence was Olena, Illinois when he enlisted March 8, 1865. He mustered out March 8, 1866.  He was born January 19, 1847 in Illinois.

Bolton, John H. – served as a Private in Company A, 7th Iowa Cavalry. While a resident of Davenport, Iowa, he enlisted Sep. 3, 1864 at age 22. He transferred to Company A, 7th Reorganized Cavalry and mustered out October 26, 1865.  He was born Dec 12, 1841 in Virginia and died July 30, 1919 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Council Bluffs.

Bradley, Julius C. – served as a Private in Company G, 10th Illinois Infantry. He was born June 16, 1843 and died July 27, 1919 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and buried in the Macedonia city cemetery.  He also joined G.A.R. post, Updegraff # 161 in Macedonia, Iowa.

Bradley, William E. – served as a Private in Company F, 16th Illinois Infantry.  He enlisted Jan. 26, 1864 and mustered out July 8, 1865. He was born Dec. 2, 1845 in Illinois and died Feb 15, 1903 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Bryant, Hartson H. – served as a Private in Company D, Bracket’s Battalion of the Minnesota Cavalry. He enlisted Dec. 23, 1863 and discharged with his company May 19, 1866. He was born in Illinois and after the war resided in Macedonia, Iowa as a farmer.

Bullock, Norman – served as a Private in Company I, Rhode Island Infantry.  He enlisted Sep 6, 1862. He also served from Company D, 156th Illinois, enlisting Feb 25, 1865 while a resident of Cook County, Illinois.  He mustered out Sep 20, 1865.  He was born July 10, 1836 in Vermont and died Dec. 4, 1915 with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Taylor Township, Vinton, Benton County, Iowa.

Burdick, Samuel E. – served as a Private in Company H, 17th Iowa Infantry. He enlisted March 1, 1862, was discharged and reenlisted and mustered in April 22, 1864.  He was born Aug 21, 1842 in Butler County, Ohio and died Nov. 7, 1924 in Montgomery County, Iowa.  He was buried in Salem Cemetery, West Township, Montgomery County, Iowa.

Caldwell, John L. – served as a Private in Company B, 170th Ohio Infantry, enlisting May 11, 1864. He mustered out with his company Sep. 10, 1864 at Camp Chase, Ohio (having served 100 days, per his enlistment). He was born April 13, 1846 in Ohio.  He joined the G.A.R. Provard Post #414 in Carson, Iowa on Dec 6, 1886.  He also had previously joined the G.A.R. Layton Post #358 in Oakland, Iowa on Sep. 12, 1884.

Caldwell, Putnam F. – served as a Private in Company D, Illinois Infantry.  He enlisted April 23, 1861 and mustered out July 29, 1861.  He reenlisted Feb. 5, 1864 into Company F, 16th Illinois Infantry and mustered out July 8, 1865.  He was born Oct. 20, 1835 in Ohio, died Jan 4, 1905, and was buried in Carson Cemetery, Carson Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Cassell, John W. – served as a Private in Company C, 91st Illinois Infantry. He enlisted Aug. 11, 1862 and mustered out June 5, 1865.  He was born April 1, 1841 in Ohio and died February 12, 1920 in Carson, Iowa, with burial in Carson Cemetery.

Cate, George W. – served as a Sergeant in Company A, 21st Michigan Infantry. At age 21, he enlisted on Aug. 5, 1862 for 3 years.  He was transferred to the Invalid Corps on Jan 15, 1864 and discharged at Springfield, Illinois on July 8, 1865 as a Sergeant in Company K, Veterans Reserved Corps. He was born May 6, 1842 in Michigan. After the war he worked as a lumber merchant in Carson, Iowa.

Church, William – served as a Private in Company A, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry. He enlisted March 26, 1865 and was discharged June 10, 1865.  He was born July 15, 1851 in Rogersville, Pennsylvania and died January 17, 1932 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  He was buried in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Clayton, Alfred M. – served as a Private in Company F, 106th Illinois Infantry.  He was born March 23, 1839 in Ohio and died August 22, 1924 while in Mercy Hospital, Council Bluffs, Iowa.  He was buried in Macedonia City Cemetery, Macedonia, Iowa.  He was also a member of the G.A.R. Updegraff Post #161 in Macedonia, Iowa.

Davenport, William S. – served as a Private in Company F, 148th Illinois Infantry. As a resident of Oquawka, Illinois, he enlisted February 11, 1865 and mustered out September 5, 1865.  He was born in Ohio in 1837. After the war he worked as a Weigher in Carson, Iowa.

Dickinson, Henry M. – served as a Corporal in Company D, 46th Massachusetts Infantry. Besides being a member of the G.A.R. Provard Post #414, he was also a member of the Updegraff Post #161 in Macedonia, Iowa.

Downs, Charles W. – served as a Private in Company G, 118th Illinois Infantry. As a resident of Hopper’s Mills, Illinois, he enlisted August 14, 1862 and mustered out June 29, 1865.  He was born November 19, 1842 in Indiana.  After the war he lived in Carson, Iowa and was a farmer.

Dungan, John – served as a Sergeant in Company D, 124th Illinois Infantry.  He enlisted as a Private on August 11, 1862 while living in Macomb, Illinois.  He was discharged as a Sergeant on August 15, 1865. He was born August 22, 1841 and died January 26, 1891, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Edic, William S. – served as a Private in Company D, 146th Illinois Infantry.  While a resident of Benton, Illinois, he enlisted Sep. 5, 1864 and mustered out July 8, 1865.  He was born Oct. 29, 1838, in Lewis County, New York and died March 16, 1926 with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Elliott, Orrin A. – served as a Corporal in Company I, 57th Pennsylvania Infantry. At age 20 he enlisted at Camp Howe, PA., July 8, 1863 and mustered out with his company Aug 17, 1863.  He later mustered into service at Meadville, PA., March 15, 1865 as a Private in Company F, 46th Pennsylvania Infantry and mustered out July 16, 1865. He was born Aug. 8, 1842 in Pennsylvania. After the war he was a Presbyterian Minister in Carson, Iowa.

Eustis, George Daniel – served as a Corporal in Company C, 106th New York Infantry.  He enlisted Aug. 5, 1862 as a Sergeant, was promoted to Captain and was discharged July 2, 1865 near Washington, D. C.  He was born May 5, 1846 in New York and died December 16, 1917 in Stuart, Iowa.

Furrow, George W. – served as a Captain in Company F, 8th Indiana Infantry.  He enlisted April 17, 1861 as a Sergeant, promoted to Captain, and was discharged August 25, 1865.  He was born March 28, 1832 in Shelley County, Ohio and died April 10, 1907, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Hamilton, George Washington – served as a Private in Company K, 86th Illinois Infantry. While living in Princeville, Illinois, he enlisted August 9, 1862. He was wounded on the battlefield and was discharged June 20, 1865.  He was born February 10, 1846 in Quincy, Illinois and died December 31, 1926 in Macedonia, Iowa with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Heft, Emanual – served as a Private in Company E, 45th Iowa Infantry.  He enlisted May 9, 1864 at age 32 while living in Henry County, Iowa.  He mustered out September 16, 1864.  He was born January 22, 1833 in Ohio and died July 12, 1900, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Ives, Avery H. – served as a Private in Company L, 4th Illinois Cavalry. As a resident of Clinton, Illinois, he enlisted September 10, 1861 and mustered out November 3, 1864.  He was born March 4, 1840 in Bolton County, Quebec, Canada and died May 11, 1926 in Gillette, Arkansas, but burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Johnson, Samuel M. – served as a Private in Company H, 36th Iowa Infantry.  At age 22, he enlisted on August 13, 1862 and was discharged for a promotion in the 2nd Arkansas Colored Infantry, June 7, 1863 at Helena, Arkansas.  He was born April 27, 1840 in Ohio and died January 24, 1911 in Carson, Iowa, with burial in Carson Cemetery.

Kinney, Ira G. – served as a Private in Company I, 9th Michigan Cavalry.  While 18 years of age, he enlisted at California on December 2, 1862 and discharged July 25, 1865 at Lexington, North Carolina. He was born December 14, 1844 in New York. After the war he lived in Carson, Iowa and served as Deputy Sheriff.  He died September 1, 1933, with burial in Kansas City, Missouri.

Larison, Hiram – served as a Private in Company E, 97th Ohio Infantry. At age 16, he enlisted August 14, 1862 for three years and was discharged June 10, 1865 with his company in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was born March 1, 1848 in Zanesville, Ohio and died September 3, 1913 in Treynor, Iowa, with burial in Macedonia City Cemetery, Macedonia, Iowa.

London, William – served as a Private in Company F, 40th Iowa Infantry.  As a resident of Gosport, Marion County, Iowa, he enlisted August 9, 1862.  He was discharge for a disability March 10, 1863.  He was born June 1, 1827 in Illinois and died April 2, 1913 in Carson, Iowa with burial in Carson Cemetery.

McCalmant, Elisha – served as a Private in Company B, 14th Iowa Infantry and in Company H, 14th Iowa Infantry.  He enlisted August 3, 1864 (discharge date not given).

McCalmant, William – served as a Private in Company E, 52nd Illinois Infantry.  When a resident of Rockford, Illinois, he enlisted Oct 1, 1861. He was discharged and reenlisted as a veteran Dec. 29, 1863.  He was mustered out on July 15, 1865.  He was born April 15, 1843 in Pennsylvania and died June 13, 1930 in Avoca, Iowa, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

McComb, John R. – served as a Private in Company G, 76th Pennsylvania Infantry.  He enlisted September 18, 1861 and discharged November 28, 1864 at the expiration of his term. He was born February 16, 1839 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. After the war he lived in Carson, Iowa as a farmer.

McElrath, Robert – served as a Sergeant in Company K, 19th Michigan Infantry.  He was born March 11, 1836 in Erie County, Pennsylvania and died May 24, 1904 in Treynor, Iowa, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

McGrew, William A. – served as a Private in Company A, 96th Ohio Infantry.  He was born April 22, 1838 in Hardin County, Ohio and died August 4, 1916 in Red Oak, Iowa, with burial in Red Oak Cemetery.

Meyers, George W. – served as a Private in Company G, 84th Illinois Infantry.  He enlisted July 15, 1862 and discharged December 26, 1862. He was born in Ohio and after the war lived in Carson, Iowa as a farmer.

Miller, Adolphus M. – served as a First Lieutenant in Company I, 13th Iowa Infantry. He enlisted Oct. 11, 1861, was promoted 3rd Sergeant on Sep 5, 1862 and 2nd Sergeant on June 6, 1863.  He was discharged and reenlisted Jan. 1, 1964, promoted to 1st Lieutenant Nov 1, 1864 and mustered out July 21, 1865.  He was born Nov. 26, 1838 in Marshall County, Tennessee and died Aug. 7, 1914 on a farm near Macedonia, Iowa, with burial in Macedonia, Iowa.

Miller, Andrew – served as a Corporal in Company B, 6th Iowa Cavalry. At age 38, he enlisted Oct 17, 1862 and mustered out Oct. 17, 1865.  He was born Nov. 30, 1824 in Ireland and died Dec. 27, 1895 in Carson, Iowa, with burial in Carson Cemetery.

Miller, Joseph – served as a Private in Company G, 126th Illinois Infantry.  He enlisted February 13, 1864 and mustered out July 12, 1865.  He was born June 12, 1842 in Pennsylvania.

Montgomery, James E. – served as a Corporal in Company I, 10th Iowa Infantry.  At age 19, he enlisted on August 28, 1861, promoted to 7th Corporal on July 31, 1862, then 4th Corporal on Dec. 8, 1862.  He mustered out on September 28, 1864.  He was born March 8, 1848 in Indiana and died in June 1924 at the Iowa Soldiers’ Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, with burial in Nebraska.

Morgan, John S. – served as a Sergeant in Company A, 14th Illinois Infantry. While living in Beardstown, Illinois, he enlisted April 1861 as a Private, promoted to Sergeant, and discharged Nov. 10, 1862 for disability.  He reenlisted in Company I, 43rd Missouri Infantry, and was discharged May 1865 as a 1st Lieutenant. He was born in 1838 in Kentucky and after the war, lived as a farmer in Carson, Iowa.

Morris, Furman – served as a Private in Company D, 34th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted August 26, 1861 while residing in Dixon, Illinois and discharged February 29, 1964 for a disability.  He was born Oct. 3, 1837 in New Jersey and died April 29, 1916 in Laurel, Montana.

Naugle, John F. – served as a Private in Company B, 72nd Illinois Infantry. He enlisted August 14, 1862 while a resident of Sunbury, Illinois, and mustered out August 7, 1865.  He was born on July 8, 1843 in New York and after the war, was a farmer in Carson, Iowa. He joined the G.A.R. Post #414 in Carson, Iowa on Dec. 21, 1885.

Osler, James K. – served as a Private in Company F, 106th Illinois Infantry. While residing in Logan County, Illinois he enlisted on August 9, 1862 and mustered out July 12, 1865.  He was born on April 5, 1845 in Illinois and died November 1, 1915 in Council Bluffs, with burial in Wheeler Grove Cemetery, Grove Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He was also a member of the G.A.R. Updegraff Post #161 in Macedonia, Iowa.

Owens, John R. – served as a Lieutenant in Company F, 16th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted on July 4, 1865 while living in Oquawka, Illinois and mustered out July 8, 1865 as a Sergeant. He was born Dec. 16, 1840 in Illinois and died April 21, 1917 in Council Bluffs, Iowa with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Pace, Franklin – served as a Private in Company G, 31st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. At age 18 he enlisted on February 25, 1864 for three years service and was discharged on with his company on July 20, 1865.  He was born January 30, 1846 in Ohio and after the war lived as a farmer in Carson, Iowa.

Parker, Daniel W. – served as a Corporal in Company E, 10th Illinois Infantry. While a resident of Henderson County, Illinois, he enlisted as a Private on August 30, 1861. After he discharged, he reenlisted again as a veteran on January 1, 1964 while a resident of Oquawka, Illinois and mustered out July 4, 1865 as a Corporal. He was born March 3, 1840 in New York.

Provard, Robert F. - served as a Private in Company I, 51st Illinois Infantry. While a resident of Buckhart, Illinois, he enlisted at age 44 on February 25, 1865 and mustered out August 9, 1865 at Springfield, Illinois. He was born December 5, 1818 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania and died July 5, 1885 in Carson, Iowa, with burial in Carson Cemetery.

Putnam, Augustus D. – served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company H, 3rd Missouri Cavalry.  He enlisted Sep. 14, 1861, promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on Dec 21, 1864, transferred to Company C, 3rd Missouri Cavalry, and mustered out June 17, 1865.  He was born August 19, 1834 in New Hampshire and died January 30, 1904, with burial in Carson, Iowa.

Putnam, George McIntire – served as a Sergeant in Company A, 75th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted August 1, 1862 and discharged as a 1st Sergeant on June 12, 1865.  He was born August 22, 1837 in Coos County, New Hampshire and died February 16, 1926 in Houston, Texas.  After the war, he served the state of Iowa as a Representative in the 26th through 28th General Assemblies (1896-1902).

Ralston, John – served as a Private in Company D, 25th Ohio Infantry.  He enlisted at age 18 on September 23, 1864 for one year and mustered out by order of the War Department on July 15, 1865.  He was born May 20, 1849 in Marysville, Ohio and died May 20, 1922 in Carson, Iowa with burial in Carson Cemetery.

Rayburn, John C. – served as a Private in Company F, 33rd Iowa Infantry.  At age 31 he enlisted August 13, 1862 and was discharged July 17, 1865.  He was born February 4, 1831 in Illinois and died August 4, 1908, with burial in Macedonia, Iowa.

Redfern, Solomon – served as a Private in Company D, 15th Illinois Infantry.  As a resident of Cook County, Illinois, he enlisted March 6, 1865 and mustered out September 16, 1865. After the war he worked as a brick maker in Carson, Iowa.

Richie, James – served as a Private in Company G, 28th Pennsylvania Infantry.  He was recruited at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and enlisted July 11, 1861, and was discharged July 20, 1864.  He was born in 1836, Pennsylvania and after the war lived in Carson, Iowa, working as a farmer.

Saddler, Edward – served as a Private in Company I, 107th Illinois Infantry.  While residing in Santa Anna [DeWitt County], Illinois, he enlisted August 2, 1862 and mustered out June 21, 1865.  He was born on November 1, 1832 in Ireland and died July 21, 1920 in Oakland, Iowa, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Sides, John – served as a Private in Company F, 106th Illinois Infantry.  As a resident of Logan County, Illinois, he enlisted August 9, 1862 and mustered out July 17, 1865.  He was born February 15, 1840 in Gibson County, Indiana and died October 21, 1924 in Denver, Colorado.  He was buried in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Stitt, David H. – served as a Private in Company A, 5th Indiana Cavalry.  While residing in Carmel, Indiana, he enlisted November 4, 1864 and discharged September 7, 1865.  He was born November 3, 1836 in Indiana and died January 26, 1911 in Carson, Iowa with burial in Carson Cemetery.

Tanner, Joseph – served as a Private in Company E, 9th Michigan Infantry.  He enlisted at East Saginaw, Michigan on April 3, 1865 and discharged September 15, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.  He was born in England and after the war lived as a farmer in Carson, Iowa.

Terry, Orange S. – served as a Fifer in Company H, 35th Iowa Infantry, enlisting Aug 15, 1862. He was transferred to Company D, 35th Iowa Infantry and discharged Oct. 1, 1862. Later he served as a Private in Company K, 64th Illinois Infantry.  He enlisted February 29, 1864 and was discharged on June 4, 1865.  He was born Oct 14, 1838 and died Dec 16, 1911 in Ohio.

Thomas, Frederick S. – served as a Private in Company A, 137th Illinois Infantry. As a resident of Warsaw, Illinois, he enlisted May 10, 1863 and mustered out September 24, 1864.  He was born Sep. 23, 1845 in New York and died August 14, 1899. After the war is was a physician in Carson, Iowa.

Tooley, Hawley B. – served as a Private in Company C, 1st Illinois Artillery.  He enlisted March 5, 1862 and mustered out June 12, 1865. He was born February 14, 1842 in New York and died February 9, 1911, with burial in Belknap Township Cemetery, near Oakland, Iowa.

Wheeler, William J. – served as a Private in Company E, 7th Indiana Infantry.  He enlisted August 28, 1861, was promoted to Corporal, and was discharge with a disability December 7, 1862. He was born May 3, 1837 in Decatur County, Indiana and after the war was a farmer in Carson, Iowa.

White, James S. – served as a Private in Company K, 14th Illinois Cavalry.  While residing in Fairview, Illinois, he enlisted December 15, 1862 and listed as deserted January 8, 1863, but later claimed to have discharged from Company H, 28th Illinois Infantry in March 26, 1866.  He was born June 3, 1845 in Illinois and after the war was a farmer in Carson, Iowa.

Whitney, William – served as a Private in Company B, 75th Illinois Infantry.  He enlisted August 15, 1862 and mustered out June 12, 1865.  He was born March 25, 1836 in Canada and died October 31, 1920, with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery near Oakland, Iowa.

Willmans, John H. – served as a Captain in Company G, 140th Illinois Infantry.  He resided in Rock Island, Illinois when he enlisted June 18, 1864 and mustered out October 29, 1864.  He was born in 1840 in Illinois. After the war he lived in Carson, Iowa and was a Land, Loan & Insurance Agent.

Wilson, Civilian K. – served as a Corporal in Company D, 69th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. At age 18 he enlisted as a Private in Company K, 11th Ohio Infantry on April 24, 1861 and mustered out with his company August 17, 1861. He enlisted as a Private in Company D, 69th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on November 28, 1861 for three years.  He was appointed as a Corporal on Aug. 25, 1864 and mustered out June 13, 1865 at Camp Chase, Ohio.  He was born in 1843 in Ohio and after the war lived in Silver Creek Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Wilson, Robert B. – served as a Private in Company D, 146th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted September 8, 1864, promoted to Corporal and mustered out July 8, 1865.  He was born October 31, 1841 in Scotland and died September 20, 1920 in Benson, Nebraska, with burial in Carson Cemetery, Carson, Iowa.

Wright, James – served as a 1st Sergeant in Company B, 69th Ohio Infantry. [no other information given] He was also a member of G.A.R. Post #161 in Macedonia, Iowa.
