MARRIED—Near
Wyoming, Iowa, on October 16th, 1856, Mr. William Crone was united in
marriage with Miss Helen Haight. On Tuesday, Oct. 16th, 1906, at their
pleasant home in the city of Superior, Nebraska, this highly respected
couple celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary, by inviting a
number of their friends and relatives to spend the day with them and
partake of a splended dinner.
Mr. William Crone was born in
Morris county, N.J., on the 7th of May, 1831, where he resided until 24
years of age, when he removed to Iowa in the fall of 1855. In 1862 he
enlisted in the Union army serving his country faithfully two years and
eleven months.
Miss Helen Haight was born in Madison county,
N.Y., June 11th, 1831, and moved from there to Wyoming, Jones county,
Iowa in the fall of 1855.
Mr. and Mrs. Crone lived in the
vicinity of Wyoming until 1878 when they cast their lot with the people
of the great west, settling on a farm in the northern part of Jewell
county, Kansas, sharing alike the reverses and good fortunes of their
neighbors until in 1904, when they sold their farm and on July 20th
moved to Superior where they have since resided, enjoying the esteem and
confidence of all their acquaintences. Mr. and Mrs. Crone are to be
congratulated upon having arrived at the advanced stage of married life
when they can celebrate their golden wedding, and we sincerely hope they
may live to see many more returns of the day commemorating the sacred
union which has been so well lived out.
