Greetings From Newton, Iowa: Largest decorated man-made Christmas tree in Iowa, standing 160 feet high, uses the Jasper County Courthouse as a base. Thousands of colored lights, illuminated stars, neon signs, garlands and festooning together with cut pine trees create a spectacle that diverts trans-continental airlines over Newton, Iowa, during the Yule Season.
Originated in 1934 and supplemented yearly with new innovations, the Chamber of Commerce project now has equipment valued $13,000. Amplified seasonal music completes the mammoth project lighted from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year's.
