Membership Changes
1989-90: Northeast Hamilton leaves for the North Star Conference. Colo-NESCO leaves for the Heart of Iowa Conference. United leaves for the Central Valley Conferece. Hubbard-Radcliffe leaves for the Big Iowa Conference. SEMCO consolidates with L-D-F (Big Iowa Conference) to form  . The new school competes in the Big Iowa Conference. Baxter and Collins-Maxwell become independents. The conference disbands.
1988-89: Alden leaves for the North Star Conference. Gilbert leaves for the Heart of Iowa Conference. GMG and L-D-F leave for the Big Iowa Conference. Hubbard and Radcliffe consolidate to form Hubbard-Radcliffe. Thew new school remains in the conference. Membership decreases to 7.
1987-88: Garwin and Green Mountain consolidate to form GMG. The new school remains in the conference. Colo consolidates with NESCO (Iowa River Valley Conference) to form Colo-NESCO. The new school remains in the conference. Alden, Gilbert, Hubbard, Northeast Hamilton, and Radcliffe join from the disbanding Iowa River Valley Conference. Membership increases to 12. Conference is renamed the Mid-Iowa Conference.
1985-86: Mingo consolidates with Colfax (Des Moines River Conference). The new school competes in the Des Moines River Conference. Membership decreases to 8.
1983-84: Collins and Maxwell consolidate to form Collins-Maxwell. The new school remains in the conference. Membership decreases to 9.
1976-77: United joins from the disbanding West Central Conference. Green Mountain joins. Membership increases to 10.
1973-74: Bondurant-Farrar leaves for the Raccoon River Conference. Membership decreases to 8.
1970-71: Lenihan closes. Membership decreases to 9.
1966-67: Colo joins from the Hawkeye Central Conference. Membership increases to 10.
1965-66: Bondurant-Farrar and Maxwell join. St. Mary's, Marshalltown becomes Lenihan. Membership increases to 9.
1964-65: Collins joins. Mitchellville consolidates with Altoona and Runnells to form Southeast Polk. The new school competes in the Suburban Conference. Membership remains at 7.
1963-64: Gilman and Laurel consolidate to form SEMCO. The new school remains in the conference. Membership decreases to 7.
1962-63: Mitchellville joins. Albion is absorbed by Marshalltown. Melbourne consolidates with Clemons, Rhodes, St. Anthony, and State Center to form West Marshall. The new school competes in the Hawkeye Central Conference. Membership decreases to 8.
1961-62: Mingo joins. Membership increases to 9.
1960-61: LeGrand consolidates with Ferguson and Dunbar to form L-D-F. The new school remains in the conference. Membership remains at 8.
1959-60: Gilman joins. Membership increases to 8.
1957-58: Lynnville-Sully leaves for the Des Moines River Conference. Kellogg is absorbed by Newton. Membership decreases to 7. After previously playing 6-man football, the conference switches to 11-man play.
1956-57: Sully and Lynnville consolidate to form Lynnville-Sully. The new school remains in the conference. Membership decreases to 9.
1953-54: Albion, Baxter, Garwin, Kellogg, Laurel, LeGrand, Lynnville, Melbourne, St. Mary's, Marshalltown, and Sully form the Tama-Marshall-Jasper Conference. Original membership is 10.
