The new name comes from three rivers in the area: Wapsipinicon, Maquoketa and Cedar. 1942-43: Independence and Vinton join from the disbanding Tri-Valley Conference. Conference is renamed the Tri-River Conference. Membership increases to 8. 1940-41: Marion and Manchester of the Tri-Valley Conference; Monticello, Anamosa, and Tipton of the Eastern Iowa Conference; and Maquoketa form the Mid-Six Conference.
