Olive Township

The following history is from the Clinton Herald, July 4, 1976:

The first settler came to the area in 1836, and the township was organized in 1842.

Calamus grew up around a post office established in 1858, and was named for a creek whose banks were lined with "sweet flag" or "calamus".

It was platted in 1860 and was incorporated in 1860.

(Probably one of the original six townships)
