Sheridan Township - Section 32

There are four graves located on the John Reynolds Pitts homestead in Sheridan township.  John Pitts was married July 30, 1873. Seven children were born to the Pitts couple. Two of these died in infancy and were buried in a grove on the Pitts homestead.   It is said Lilly and Rosa Pitts are buried in the other two graves.. The Pitts living children were born in 1874, 1877, 1887, 1891 and 1893. The children buried in the cemetery were born some time during those years. (Source: Original information from Richard Walters. The Iowa Free Press reported on Nov 25, 1879 on pg. 3: " The family of John R. Pitts has met with a severe loss in the death of their infant child last Tuesday. They have the heartfelt sympathy of a lrge circle ofof friends."
