Norman Hans Lamaak, 76, of Sioux City died of a respiratory illness Monday, March 5, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with Mike Schuessler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lamaak was born July 21, 1924, in Wall Lake, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1943 to 1946.

He married Anna Werkmeister on Aug. 28, 1948, in Denison, Iowa. He had been a resident of Sioux City for 50 years.

He retired from Irving Jensen Construction in 1989.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and American Legion Monahan Post 64. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Culbertson of St. Charles, Iowa; a son, Randy of Sioux City; two brothers, Lloyd of Pueblo, Colo., and Kenneth of Sioux City; three sisters, Norma Jean DeMey and Janis Malone, both of Carroll, Iowa, and Mary Ann Murr of Corning, Mo., three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Pallbearers will be Gary Lamaak, Monte, Jimmy and Gerome Lichtenberg, Don Shaw and Steve DeMey to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
