Head, Bertha Alice (Husted), 72, of Promise City, Iowa passed away Thursday December 1, 1978 at her home. She was born February 16, 1906 and spent her entire life in and around Wayne County, She was the daughter of Nancy Ann Davis and William H. Husted. Her father and mother, one sister, 2 brothers and 2 grandsons preceded Bertha in death. She is survived by her husband, John Head at the home, 7 children: Verle Henderson of Promise City; Lela Stout of Council Bluffs; Junior Guthrie of Corydon; Donald Guthrie of Andalusia, Illinois; Joyce Roberts of Confidence, Juanita Dresser of Corydon and Louise Long of Fairfield, Iowa. One brother, Richard and 4 sisters: Leta, Olive, Opal, and Hallie. Also 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was a faithful member of the Confidence assembly of God Church. Services were held Sunday, December 24, 1978, from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour with Rev. J. C. Hook officiating. Vocalist was Milton Albertson accompanied by Mrs. Iris Merritt. The pallbearers were Raymond Mattly, Rex Peterson, Harold Sager, Ivan DeVore, Dale DeVore and Bernard DeVore. Interment was in the Confidence Cemetery.
