Donald, Dallas Delbert - A man's death is a reflection of his life. Death brings sorrow, but in truth people are weeping for that which has been their joy. Dallas Delbert Donald passed from this earth on December 29, 1987, completing 69 years of a full life, shared with family and friends. He died at the Yuma Regional Medical Center while a winter visitor in Arizona. Dallas was born on May 22, 1918 to William Franklin and Nellie (Clark) Donald in Wayne County, Iowa. On September 3, 1938, he married Maxine Leona Hellyer and they were blessed with 49 years together. To this union were born 4 surviving children: Dallas and wife, Sally of Promise City, Iowa; Colleen Sharp and husband, Gary of Coal Valley, Illinois; David and wife, Donna of Promise City, Iowa and Janice Gentile and husband, Barry of Centertown, Missouri. He is also survived by his loving wife, Maxine; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; Roy and wife, Marge of Aurora, Colorado, Ardys and wife, Carolyn of Centerville and Jay and wife, Velma of Promise City, Iowa; 4 brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Diana; 2 brothers, Wayne and Clark; and 2 sisters, Sylvia and Velma. Dallas was a respected member of the community, working as a farmer and contractor during his lifetime. He was also a member of the Promise City United Methodist Church and found strength in his faith to accept life's challenges. Dallas loved to travel, having visited all 50 states and enjoyed talking with people wherever he found them. "God does not call his children home one hour before their time and the family of Dallas Donald is thankful for the generous life allotted their loved one." Services were held Sunday, January 3, 1988, from the Randolph Funeral Home, Seymour, Iowa with Rev. Don Kraals, officiating. The vocalist was Milton Albertson, accompanied by Mrs. Bernace Kerwin. Pallbearers ere Alan Hansen, David McElvain, David Cobb, Max Peterson, Larrry Warrick and Jim Horton. Honorary pallbeaers were Floyd Parks, Eudean Lord, Carl Thompson, Clarence Dodson, Ed Demry and Delrein Lewis. Interment was in the Promise City Cemetery.
