Curtis, Flo Irene (Fenton), daughter of Jim and Ida (Reynolds) Fenton, was born on December 18, 1895 in Appanoose County, Iowa. She passed away on June 20, 1983, at St. Joseph Hospital in Centerville, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 2 days. She spent all of her life in Appanoose and Wayne Counties. Flo was united in marriage to Clell Franklin Curtis on December 24, 1913. To this union 8 children were born: Jamsie, Eston, Leota, Leta, Eugene, Letty, Don and Dale. She was one of Johovah's Witnesses and attended the Centerville, Iowa Congregation. Flo was a devoted wife and mother. She had been sick the last 2 years. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, 3 sisters, 5 brothers, and one grandson. Flo leaves to mourn her passing her loved ones, her 8 children: Jamsie and wife LaVaughn and family; Eston and wife Ethel and family; Leota and husband Gene and family; Leta and husband Jerry and family; Eugene and wife Diane and son, Letty and husband Verle and family, Don and wife Betty and family and Dale and wife Dorothy Jean and family. In these survivors are 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Ormal Fenton of Plano, Iowa; 6 sister-in-laws: Faye, Velma and Selma Fenton, Chloe Miller of Albin, Wyoming, Ollie Finks of Centerville, and Beulah Curtis of Gary, Indiana. Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Services were held on Wednesday June 22, 1983 from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour with Jerry Pichford officiating. Hymns were played by Nellie VerDught, pianist. The pallbearers were Larry Curtis, Bruce Curtis, Stanley McCarty, Anthoney McCarty, Thmothy Curtis and Dale Curtis Jr. The honorary pallbearers were Eston Gene Curtis, Lloyd Curtis and David Curtis. Interment was in the Crossroads Cemetery. A memorial was to the Wayne County Heart Association.
