Clark, Myrtle Iona (Holmes), daughter of Edward Daniel and Ethel Mae (Hickle) Holmes was born April 18, 1904 and passed away January 5, 1997, at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center, Corydon, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 18 days. Myrtle was united in marriage to Robert Loy Clark, January 28, 1925 and to this union 4 children were born, who survive with their spouses: Dan Clark and wife, Louise of Russell; Dorothy and husband, Dwight Crozier of Hawley, Minnesota; Jackie Clark and wife, Delores of Knoxville and Judy and husband, Larry Sales of Plano. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, a brother, Cecil Holmes of Mesa, Arizona, and a sister, Pauline Helwig, of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; one great granddaughter; 4 sisters, Fern, Kirton, Marie Head, Evelyn Nichols Ribbing and Irene Fetters; 3 brothers, Lowell, Eugene and Edward Holmes. Myrtle spent most of her life as a farm wife north of Promise City until the early '70's when retiring and moving to Seymour. From 1980 to 1991 she resided with daughter Judy and husband Larry before entering the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center. She was a member of the Seymour Christian Church. She was a faithful loving wife and mother. Her special joy in life was her grandchildren and her garden. She always had a smile and was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed working with the Christian Ladies Aid to serve their lunches and quilting. All those who knew her will miss her. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 9, 1997, from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour, with Rev. Dwayne Lawson officiating. Milton Albertson was the vocalist accompanied by Bernace Kerwin, pianist. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Jimmy, Randy, Jerry, Rodney and Robert Clark and Dale and Daniel Sales. Honorary pallbearers were: Matt Schoonover and the Wayne County School 4th grade "adopt a grandparent", Kyle Polsdofer, Eric Palmer, Sara Arnold, Lee Terrell, Megan Anderson, Joshua Clark and Doug Shoup. Interment was in the Confidence Cemetery. Memorial was established to the Seymour Library or the Seymour Christian Church.
