New Virginian, New Virginia, Iowa, Oct 14, 1926, p.1
Obituary
Sylva Deil, third child of Henry and Martha Calloway, was born near Vandalia, Iowa, March 3, 1878, and passed to the Great beyond, October 8, 1926, at her present home near New Virginia, Iowa age 48 years, 7 months, and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Elmer Danley Feb 1, 1899. To this union two children were born, Veta Irene and Roy Clifford, who are both at home. She united with the Christian church in her girlhood at Prairie City, Iowa and in later years transferred her membership to Mt. Tabor church near her home. She has lived near New Virginia for the past 21 years and has endeared herself to her many neighbors and friends, being always anxious to help in sickness or any time when needed. She will be sadly missed in her home and community. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, two children, mother, four sisters, Mrs. Albert Shera and Mrs. Jay Streeter, of New Virginia, Iowa, Mrs. Joe Frist, of Runnells, Iowa, and Mrs. Raymond Luellen of Los Angeles, Calif., two brothers, Otis and Ivan Calloway, both of New Virginia, Iowa, all being present during her sickness and death except Mrs. Luellen, who was unable to come. Also a host of other relatives and friends. Her father, two brothers and one sister, preceded her in death. Dearest mother how we miss thee, Oh, how hard to give her up, but an angel come down from heaven, and removed her from our flock. All is dark within our dwelling, lonely are our hearts today, for the one we loved so dearly, has forever passed away. Heaven retaineth now our treasure, earth the lowly casket keeps, and the sunbeams love to finger, where our darling mother sleeps. The funeral was held at New Virginia M. E. Church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Weakland, and burial at New Virginia Cemetery.
