Thu, Aug 19, 1880 · Page 1**DIED—**At the residence of Mr. F. Gilbert, in Village township, Van Buren Co., Mr. James Malcomson, aged 19 years.
The deceased was born in Ireland in the year 1861, coming to Iowa in the spring of 1879, and departed this life July 26th, 1880. His illness was but one week’s duration. His friends were called and all that loving hands could do was attended to, but no power could stay the progress of the disease, and on Monday evening as the day was about drawing to a close, brighter morn appeared to dawn.
For the past year he has resided with his uncle, J. Malcomson, by whom he was held in high esteem, and to whom he was equally attached. No one with such a character as Jimmy possessed could pass away and not be sadly missed. Being a resident here but a short time he had not made an extensive acquaintance, but all who knew him seemed to love him for his cheerful disposition and kindness of heart. His place in the Sunday school was scarcely ever vacant, never without good cause. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. He leaves a father and two sisters to mourn his early demise, and his acquaintances will heartily sympathize with the stricken family and bereaved friends of the deceased, in their sad bereavement.
