Ernest Dwight Downing

Services for Dwight Downing were held May 24, 1993, at the Witzleben Chapel, Anchorage, Alaska, with Dr. Keith Miles officiating.

Dwight Downing died May 19, 1993 at the Providence hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. Burial was at Fort Richardson National Cemetery, Anchorage.

He was born April 18, 1943, in Milton, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Florence Downinig, Milton, Iowa.

He graduated from Fox Valley High School in 1963, attended and graduated with an Art Degree at NMU, Kirksville, Missouri in 1967. He began teaching at Ellsbury and St. Charles, Missouri in 1968. In 1973 he joined the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska.

He currently owned and operated Glory Home Construction Co.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Gene Downing.

Survivors include daughters Lisa (Downing) McDonald and grandson, Ryan, Lori Downing and Amanda Downing, Anchorage, his parents, Ernest and Florence (Frymoyer) Downing, Milton, Iowa and one sister, Lois (Downing) Shelley and her husband, Bob Shelley of Memphis, Missouri, several nieces and nephews.
