Florence Newcomer

Florence Newcomer, 75, of Lancaster, died early Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Burlington Medical Center after an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Scotland County, Mo., the daughter of Orville LeRoy and Celia Corwin Lancaster. She married Homan Neal Newcomer on Feb. 9, 1932, in Kirksville. She spent most of her life in Scotland and Schuyler Counties.

Survivors include her husband; daughters Phyllis Ross of Birmingham, Iowa, and Alice Holtkamp of Burlington; sister Zella Stothard of Memphis, and brother Cullie Lancaster of Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one niece and seven nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a grandson, and five brothers.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in the Carthage Memorial City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
