Alva T. Magill

Alva T. Magill, 74, a former Canril and Bloomfield resident, died Wednesday, March 9, 1988 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville.

He was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Riverdale, Neb., to Alva B. and Lavia Belle Fish Magill. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1934 to 1938. He was a retired farmer and formerly owned a flower shop in Bloomfield. He managed the state liquor store in Bloomfield and operated a feed store in Milton. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Milton and the Eagles Club in Bloomfield. He married Ina Merritt Sept. (????), in Kirksville, Mo.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mary Lynn of Riverdale, Calif., two sons, Douglas of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Marvin of Monterey, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Simmons of Riverside, Calif.

The services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Priester Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield, the Revs. Andrew Rubenking and Ellis Andrews officiating. Burial with Masonic rites was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Cemetery Association or the Cantril Library.
