Warren C. Stanton

Warren C. Stanton, age 62, Farmington, died 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 1988 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

A mathematics teacher in the Harmony School District, Mr. Stanton was born Dec. 8, 1925 at College Springs, Iowa, and had lived in Farmington since 1970. He was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church, Iowa Education Assn., National Education Assn. He was a navy veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post No. 102 of Barnard, Mo.

On August 27, 1953 in Stansberry, Mo. he married Sue Sharp who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Edwin of Stockport, Jon of Burlington, Walter, who is currently serving with the Army in Germany, two daughters Jodee Stanton of Ft. Madison, and Barbara Wellman, Hillsboro. A brother Walter of College Springs, Iowa, two sisters Betty Jo Weeds, Elmhurst, Ill., Dorothy Pond of Knodaway, Iowa and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim, and his parents, Warren E. and Winona Clark Stanton.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 13 in the Harmony Middle School Gymnasium, the Rev. Jim Rozendaal officiating.

Burial was in the Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington. A memorial has been established for Harmony Education Scholarship Fund.
