JULIUS H. SCHLEETER

Julius Henry "Juke" Schleeter, son of John Henry and Amelia M. Schonfeldt Schleeter, was born June 27, 1899, in Goshen, Indiana and departed this life Sunday, November 1, 1981, at Keokuk Area Hospital at the age of 82.

At an early age he moved with his family to Audrain County, Mo. He attended school at Farber, Mo. In 1916 the Schleeters moved to Fort Morgan, Colo., and in 1918 to the farm in the Oak Grove Community where Juke resided the balance of his life.

On September 10, 1925, he married Jessie Cleola Pool and they became the parents of two daughters, Alice Amelia and Twila Marie.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Jessie their daughters, Amelia and her husband, Raymond Zuehlke of Mt. Pleasant and Twila Miller of Arbela, Mo., and a sister, Emma Pender of New London. Also surviving are nine granddaughters, five grandsons, and five great grandchildren, as well as three grandchildren-in-law, as follows: Bryan and Barbara Boeding and daughter, Erin, Burlington; Bernie and Sheryl Woerdeman and sons Jamie and Adam, Salem; Victor and Linda Kruse and son Joshua, Salem; Sandra and Andrea Zuehlke, Mt. Pleasant; Joseph and Kathleen Miller and son, David, Arbela, Mo.; Merrie Miller, Kirksville, Mo., Celeste Miller, Keokuk; and Ronald, Warren, Melody, Karen, John and Walter Miller, all of Arbela. Also surviving are a number of other, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Lulu and Minnie, brother William, and son-in-law, Waltman Miller.

"Juke" was baptized as a Lutheran on June 2, 1901. He was a member of the Oak Grove Church near his home and attended as long as his health permitted. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 3, 1981 at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Church east of Douds, with Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
