HATTIE OAKES

Hattie M. Oakes, 82, of 510 Westgate Towers died in 10:09 a.m. Jan. 23 in Ottumwa Hospital.

She was born Oct. 28, 1896, in Davis County to David and Mary Brumley Bradbury and had lived in Ottumwa for more than 50 years. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution, was a past president of the Burlington Veteran's Auxiliary and was a past president of the Firemen and Enginemen Auxiliary. She married Harvey W. Oakes on March 10, 1918, in Davis County. He died in 1965.

Survivors: sons Lloyd E. and Richard L. of Tucson, Ariz., and Franklin L., of Palos Heights, Ill.; a daughter, Florence Daugherty of Independence, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Bradbury of Pottsboro, Texas.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Henry Riegel officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery.

Family visitation: in the funeral chapel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
