Story of Mary Lammers Naber from the Granville St. Joseph’s church book page 150.

Mary Lammers Naber was born January 1, 1856 to John and Catherine Brandt Lammers at new Vienna, Iowa. She married Frank Naber November 26, 1877 at St. Boniface Church in New Vienna. She came to Granville in 1906 to make her home with her daughter and son in law. B. J. and Anna Diers. She was skilled in the art of sewing., homemaking and gardening. She died at age 80 on September 15, 1936 at home in Granvlle and was buried from St. Joseph’s Church into the church cemetery. She was a quiet, gentle unassuming, loving person, not only a Grandmother but a dear friend and a second mother of the Diers Children. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.

His parents were Johann Franz Naber born 16 Sep 1808 Harth, Westfalen, Prussia died 27 Nov 1853 Hegensdorf, Paderbom, Nordhein Westfalen, Germany; and Maria Angela Elisabeth Riemann born 30 Mar 1820 Hegensdorf, Germany, and died in USA. Franz married Elisabeth Kuhl abt 1870 New Vienna, Iowa. He married Mary Lammers 25 Nov 1877 New Vienna, Iowa.

Frank Naber was born in Germany and came to America with his brother, John in 1868. He was engaged in the wagon making business with John at New Vienna. He married Elizabeth Kuhl who died Oct 16, 1877 at New Vienna, he then married Mary Lammers, daughter of John Lammers.

Wife #2: Maria Gabina ‘Mary’ Lammers was born 1 Jan 1856 Colony Tsp, Delaware IA died 15 Sep 1936 buried St. Joseph Cemetery Granville, IA. Her parents were John Herman Lammers 1818-1885 Petersburg. Delaware, IA and Catherine Katy Brandt 1828-1899 Delaware Co. IA .

3. Henry Richard Naber born 10 Aug 1874 New Vienna IA died 10 Apr 1940 Arlington, VA. He married Lilliam E. Hoffman 1873-1944. Children Helen Elizabeth Naber 1906-2004 and Irma L. Naber 1910-1973.

Anna was born to Frank Naber and Mary Lammers.
4. Anna Katherine Naber born 13 Aug 1878 New Vienna IA died 14 Apr 1945 Granville IA buried St. Joseph’s cemetery Granville IA. She married Bernard Diers Children – Herbert Francis Diers 1906-1980, LudwigR. Lou Diers 1908-1986, Monica Mary Diers Marks 1910-1994, Martha Caroline Diers 1911-1913, Carl Henry Diers 1912-1913, Rita M. Diers Theisen 1914-1974, Agnes Mary Diers Burke 1916-2001, Sylvester Joseph Diers 1918-1969. Her obit was carried in the LeMars Semi Weekly Sentinel of Apr 17, 1945.

Mrs. Mary Nabor, mother of Ms. Ben Diers of Granvile passed away at the home of her daughter September 15th at the age of 80 years and 8 months. She made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Diers since February 1906. Mrs. Nabor was born at New Vienna, I January 1856. She became the wife of Frank Nabor at New Vienna November 28th 1877. Four children were born to the union, Ben, Mary, Henry and Mrs. Ben Diers. (First three children listed were of Frank and his first wife)
Surviving are one brother, Henry Lammers of Petersburg IA, her son, Ben of New Vienna and Henry of Springfield and Mrs. Diers of Granville, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her husband died 32 years ago.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at St. Joseph’s church in charge of Rev. J. A. Gerleman. She was a member of the Christian Mother Society for many years. Pallbearers were Ed Luken, Joe Neuroth, Joe Bachman, Henry Schilmoeller, Ben Stallman and Max Thorman.
The rest of the obituary named a great many friends and relatives who attended the services.
