Religious affiliation: Lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Panama, IA and was a member of the Knights of Columbus

Military service: U. S. Army; 17 months was spent in Germany

Marriage: JoAnn Newland; April 23, 1960; St. Patrick Catholic Church, Neola, IA

Employment: After completing his military service, Dick farmed for a year and then started his carpentry business; he and JoAnn lived on a farm west of Panama, IA until 1973 when they remodeled a farmhouse and moved it to a farm north of Panama, IA. Several of his sons ended up working with him in his carpentry business before Dick retired in 2022.

Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, watching rodeos and westerns on tv, attending rodeos and occasionally going to a casino.
