MILLICENT ANN KNIGHT

Millicent Knight, Millie, was born Millicent Ann Wells on December 1, 1933 to Vivian and Ida Mae Sharp Wells in rural Ringgold county, near Kellerton, Iowa.

She was the oldest of six children. Millie learned to cook andworkl hard early in life and that continued throughout.

Millicent spent her entire life in Ringgold County, graduating from Mount Ayr Community High School in 1952. After high school she worked in town as a dental assistant, in the United Grocery Store and for 23 years as bookkeeper and buyer for Dean Jacobs' fur, wool and hide business. She took pleasure in being around the public and visiting, enjoying friendships with many people. Millie also worked side by side with her husband Ed, managing their livestock operation.

Millie like being outside and had a green thumb for growing flowers and houseplants. She had hobbies such as fishing, skating, crocheting and sometimes even hunting with her brothers. l She also enjoyed shopping, collecting, eating out, cooking, visiting on the phone, watching funny movies, hearing telling jokes and have slumber parties with her sisters.

Millier married Edward Knight on April 27, 1964 and had one daughter, Lynnette. She thought the world of both of them and they were the center of her life.

Millie was baptized June 17, 1974 and had a quiet faith in Good that she relied on up to her death. Proceeding her in death were her parents and a sister Jeanne Lynn Wells.

Those who mourn Millie's passing on August 13, 1999 include her husband Edward; daughter Lynnette and husband George Hunt of Mt. Ayr; brothers, J. R. Wells and wife Virgie of Gladstone, Missouri and Gary Wells and wife Karen of Henderson, Nevada; sisters, Janet Fox and husband Carl of Indianola, Iowa and Pat Baker and husband Ken of Osceola; two aunts, Marie Piatt of Lamoni, Iowa and Edith James of Mesquite, Texas; two sisters in law, AnnaBelle Knight and Luccal Knight of Mount Ayr; 13 nieces and nephews; many cousings, and many many friends.

Services were held at the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Monday, August 16, 1999 with Rev. Peter Brantner, Rev. Diana Holland and Rev. Ralph Johnson officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Sackett and Betsy Keenan. Casket bearers were Dale Bickel, Ted Still, Josh Shields, Hank Smith, Steve Trullinger and Barton Shields. Honorary pallbearers were Darlene Irving, Dorothy Hughes, Jean Willey, Lorraine Link, Georgia Brand, Janice Lindeman and Helen Luchsinger.

Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery-Mt. Ayr.

Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
