Peter Schaefer, 75, died on January 5, 2014 from complications related to Lewy Body Dementia. Pete was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 28, 1938 to Richard C. Schaefer and Margaret Brooks Schaefer. He married Patricia Swan Schaefer on February 1, 1985. Pete received a BS from Colorado State University and an MS from Iowa State University. He retired after more than 25 years with the DAS division of the State of Iowa as an IT Analyst.

He is preceded in death by parents Richard and Margaret Schaefer (Lakewood, OH) and brother Andrew Schaefer (Ballwin, MO). He is survived by his wife, Patricia Schaefer, sister, Shirley Schaefer, and his sons Barton (Maija) Schaefer, Todd (Kathy Allen) Schaefer, and Matthew Schaefer as well as grandsons Benjamin Schaefer, Justin Schaefer, Liam Connor Schaefer and Declan Connor Schaefer.

There will be a celebration of his life in the spring. Memorials may be sent to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
