The Fourth Annual Bullington Reunion
Many Here Last Sunday from the State Where the Tall Corn Grows
The fourth Bullington reunion was held in El Paso Sunday, September 2, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Pitman. Although the weather was threatening the relatives braved the elements and the two big tents which had previously been pitched on the large lawn were filled to overflowing. One hundred sixteen sat down to the long tables which were loaded with all the good things to eat. There were four little tots who were too small to sit at the tables.
Those in attendance were G. M. Bullington, Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Perrin and three children, George, Naomi and Wayne of Redfield, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. William Bullington, Mr. and Mrs. James Roebuck, J. V. Bullington, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bullington and four sons, Edward, Wayne, Harold and Keith, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Baker and daughter Harriet, Des Moines, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stradley, Wilton Junction, Ia; Mr. and Mrs. George Bullington and son Kenneth B., Polk City, Iowa; Mrs. Katherine Whitere, Sanderville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Bullington, son Chase and daughter Evelyn, Newton, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bullington, daughters Florence, Ellen Lee, Jane, Mildred and Martha, and Mrs. James Lamb, all of Runnells, Ia; J. W. Bullington, Amboy; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Finley, son Lewis and daughter Edith of Hamilton; Mrs. Mary McClintock, Ed Frye, Miss Maggie Pierce, Adrian Bullington, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gerber, sons Franklin, Harvey, Lorin, Clifford, Orrie and Raymond and daughters Bernadine, Mabel Jane, Betty and Janette, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Johnson, daughters, Oneida and Arlene, all of Eureka; Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Kemp, son Charles, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Murphy, daughter Virginia Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Frantz, son Junior, Miss Patricia Wakey, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ramsey, all of Pontiac; Mrs. Susie Search, Misses Myrtle and Elva McClintock, J. F. McClintock, wife and son, all of Normal; Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Welch, sons Bert, George, Robert and Richard Glenn and daughters Helen Margaret, Josephine, Mary, Mildred, Betty Ruth and Blanche all of Minonk; Mr. and Mrs. David Pitman, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Baker, sons Ray and Lloyd and daughters Oma and Margaret, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baker, son Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Monahan, daughters, Clare, Arlene and Edragene, Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Hamm, daughter Sara Lucille, Miss Clara Hamm, Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Pitman, El Paso.
The oldest one present was Mrs Mary McClintock of Eureka, who was 81 years old last July 4, and the youngest was Lloyd Dean Baker, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Earl Baker and who is not quite 2 months old.
The business meeting was held in the afternoon, when Mrs. Laura Bullington of Newton, Iowa, was chosen president for the coming year and Mrs. Florence Bullington of Wilton Junction, Iowa secretary-treasurer. It was voted to have the next reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bullington at Runnells, Ia. This was the fourth annual reunion held by the Bullingtons and was the largest. The next largest in attendance was the first one when there were about eighty present. This was held in Newton, Ia. Although the weather was rainy all afternoon last Sunday, everyone seemed to have a good time and voted the affair a grand success. The outgoing officers were G. M. Bullington, Redfield, Ia., president, and I. E. Pitman, El Paso, secretary-treasurer. Iowa was well represented, there being forty-two present from the “state where the west begins and where the tall corn grow” – but not the only tall corn that grows.

Runnells News – Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Bullington attended the Bullington reunion in Des Moines last Sunday. In spite of the disagreeable weather there were 65 present. Several families came from Illinois.

Runnells News – Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bullington and family, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Davidson of Colfax, left Tuesday morning for Eureka and El Paso, Illinois, to attend a family reunion and arrived home Monday morning, also visited at the John Bullington home in Ottumwa and had an enjoyable trip.
