Funeral services for Ruth Elizabeth Wilkerson, 99, West Liberty, were held March 7, 1997 at First Church United, with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Wilkerson died March 5 at Simpson Memorial Home, following an extended illness.

The daughter of J.E. and Sue Davis Nevins, she was born Dec. 19, 1897 near Paris, Mo. She was educated in the Paris area. She married Harold H. Wilkerson Feb. 22, 1922 in Missouri.

The couple first farmed near West Branch for 7 years and then moved to West Liberty.

Mrs. Wilkerson was a member of First Church United.

She is survived by 2 sons, Harold H. Wilkerson, Jr. and wife Evelyn, West Liberty; and Hugh J. Wilkerson and wife Marilyn, Elk Grove, Ill.; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1979; and 5 brothers, George, Benjamin, Carl, Paul and Hugh.
