Funeral services for Mary Margaret Derksen, 86, Muscatine, were held Feb. 21, 1997 at St. Mathias Catholic church, with the Rev. George Hoenig officiating. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Burial was in the St. Mary cemetery.

Mrs. Derksen died Feb. 19 at Muscatine General hospital.

The daughter of Henry and Margaret Fiehaley Romann, she was born Aug. 30, 1910 in Wilton. She married Leo C. Derksen Feb. 8, 1938 in Wilton.

She graduated from St. Mary's School in Muscatine and from Mercy Hospital in Davenport as a registered nurse.

Mrs. Derksen had been employed at the Bellevue hospital and late at the Nielson Clearinghouse.

She was a member of St. Mathias Catholic church and had been a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, as well as a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Mrs. Derksen is survived by 2 sons, John and Leo Anthony Derksen, both of Muscatine; a daughter, Mary Ann Black, Muscatine; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 nieces and nephews; and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Healey, Muscatine; and Helen Angerer, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1969 and a sister, Gertrude Angerer.

Memorials may be made to St. Mathias Catholic church or Hayes Catholic elementary school.
