Funeral services for Warren E. McIntire, 76, West Liberty, were held Jan. 11, 1997 at Cedar Valley United Methodist church, with the Rev. Jeannie Koughn officiating. Pallbearers were John and James Provine, Aaron and Amy Jepson, Dustin, Paul and Robbie McIntire, Jucas and Jessica Parizek and John Hesseling. Burial, with military rites, was in the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.

Mr. McIntire died Jan. 8 at University hospitals in Iowa City, following a long illness.

The son of Floyd and Grace Chesebro McIntire, he was born Nov. 27, 1920 in Muscatine county. He graduated from West Liberty high school in 1938 and from the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport. He was a veteran of W.W.II serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theatre.

He married Evelyn June Sanders June 23, 1946 at her father's home.

The couple farmed south of West Liberty for many years, retiring in 1981.

Mr. McIntire was a member of the Cedar Valley United Methodist church, American Legion Mansell Phillips Post No. 509 and the Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Muscatine County Fair board and the Lions Club.

He is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Philip and Peg McIntire, and Brian and Gleeanna McIntire, West Liberty; 4 daughters, Sandra Provine, Industry, Ill.; Beth Brophy and her husband Joe, West Liberty; Karen Hesseling and her husband Russell, Newbury, S.C.; and Debra Larson and her husband Paul, Hamilton, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981; a grandson, Derek; and a brother, Earl.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion or the West Liberty Rescue Unit.
