Funeral services for C. Mearl McCann, 86, West Liberty, were held Jan. 13, 1997 at the West Liberty Chapel of Barker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Schultz officiating. Mrs. Beverly Blair was the organist and pallbearers were Jerry Radford, Rodney Smith, Harold Kline, Charles Herrold, Leon Askam and Brad Melick. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.

Mr. McCann died Jan. 10 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, following an extended illness.

The son of Charles and Loretta Walker McCann, he was born Aug. 20, 1911 in Cedar county. He graduated from West Liberty high school. He married Doris Askam Dec. 14, 1968 in West Liberty.

Mr. McCann worked for the West Liberty school system for over 40 years.

He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist church.

Mr. McCann had a love for antique cars.

He is survived by his wife; a sister, Loretta Marie Schmidt, West Liberty; and a niece, Kathleen Jocki. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane; and a niece and nephew.
