Smithland, Iowa--Earl A Price, 62, of Whiting, formerly of Smithland, died Sunday in the Veterans Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton. The Rev. Mark Smeltzer will officiate. Burial will be in the Smithland Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Leslie Seaton Post 666, American Legion.

Mr. Price was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Dow City. He came with his parents as a child to the Ute community, later moving to Mapleton. He served with the U.S Navy during World War II.

He married Ione Newman Dec. 14, 1942, at Elizabeth City, N.C. They came to the Mapleton community after the service and for the last 25 years had lived at Smithland, moving to Whiting three months ago. He was a truck driver in the Smithland area.

Mr. Price was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Edwin of Smithland; one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Patricia) Eskildsen of Oto; one brother, Everett of Mapleton; four sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Vesta) Melby of Soldier, Mrs. Grace Wheeler of Longview, Texas, Mrs. Edwin (Edna) Sammohs of Sioux City and Mrs. Fidell (Erna) Wadsworth of Climbing Hill and three grandchildren
