Marilyn Joyce McCarville,96, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Marilyn’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Goslar Chapel in Onawa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Marilyn Joyce was born on May 2, 1929 in Turin, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Vera (Clemmensen) Miller. She graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1947 and went on to pursue her interest in cosmetology by graduating beautician school, working for several years as a beautician. Marilyn later went to nursing school at the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, earning her Registered Nursing degree. She devoted many years to her career as a nurse at Burgess Health Center, where she truly loved her work and found great fulfillment in caring for and helping others.

Marilyn Miller and Terrance McCarville were united into marriage June 25, 1950, in Onawa, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Michelle and Dan. The couple later divorced.

Marilyn enjoyed flower gardening and carefully tending to her beautiful yard. She was also an avid reader and loved to travel. Marilyn especially enjoyed spending winters at her home in Casa Grande, Arizona. She was a member of the local chapter of PEO for almost fifty years and also a member of the Onawa Garden Club. She loved animals, especially her poodles, having five of them over her lifetime.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle (Rick) Rodgers of North Liberty, Iowa; son, Dan McCarville of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren, Kyle (Ellie) Rodgers of Savage, Minnesota, Kaitlin (Andy) Wenndt of Coralville, Iowa, and Curtis McCarville of Robbinsdale, Minnesota; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Rodgers, Henry Rodgers, Madilyn Wenndt, and Cameron Wenndt; one sister, Marlene Thompson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Miller; mother, Vera (Miller) Jensen; stepfather, Axel Jensen; and brother-in-law, Ron Thompson.
