Alvin Stoops was born, November 9, 1869, in Marion county, and was killed in a car accident at Sioux Falls, S. Dak., November 9, 1948, at the age of 79 years. He was united in marriage to Mattie Allison, April 12, 1898. Four children, one of whom preceded him in death, were born to this union.
Mr. Stoops spent most of his early life in Marion and Story counties until after the death of his wife, November 17, 1929. He then moved to Sioux Falls, S. Dak., where he resided until the time of his death.
The deceased is survived by three children, Clyde Stoops and Howard Stoops, of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and Mrs. Glen Snyder, of Marshalltown, two sisters, Mrs. Walter Davis and Mrs. Will Randol, both of Knoxville, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A short service was conducted from the Miller funeral home in Sioux Falls, S. Dak., by Rev. Berg. Services were conducted at the Bybee & Davis funeral home by Rev. R. D. Morris, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment was in Graceland cemetery.
