Hamilton, March 15 – Martha Viola Evans, daughter of Ezra and Catherine Evans, was born July 14, 1873, and died March 8, 1937, at the age of 64 tears, 7 months, 24 days.
She was united in marriage to Ehud Godfrey, Oct. 23, 1904. Her husband preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1922.
Those left to mourn her departure are two sons – Forest and Robert at home, one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Mefford, of Hamilton, a niece, Luella Stoops of Knoxville, whom she had raised from infancy, two stepsons – George of Bussey, and Ed. of Hamilton; one brother, J. R. Evans, of Hamilton, and two grandchildren – Berniece and Glenna Mefford, also a host of other relatives and friends.
She united with the M. E. church at Indiana Chapel and later transferred to the church at Hamilton.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church at Hamilton, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. B. H. Finch, of Bussey, assisted by Rev. Rowe, of Lovilia. Burial at Hamilton.
