Stoops, Mattie Allison – 1870-1929

Mattie Stoops, daughter of Samuel and Lucinda Allison, was born in what is now Cherokee, Okla., in the year 1870, Nov. 6, and died at her home in Knoxville, Ia., Nov. 17, 1929, aged 59 years and 11 days. Most of her life was spent in Marion and Story county, Iowa. In the year 1887, she was united in marriage to Edward Stoops. To this union four children were born, three girls and one boy, two of whom preceded her in death.
In the year 1898, April 12, she was again united in marriage to Alvin Stoops. To this union four children were born, one of whom preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and five children, Mrs. Nettie Mock, Des Moines, Mrs. Francis Sills, Ames, Clyde and Howard, of Knoxville, and Mrs. Ardus Mereys, Racine, Wis., also two sisters, Ida Rexting, Portland, Ore., and Nettie Case, Birmingham, Ala., and two brothers, Bud Allison, Ames, and Frank Allison, Wichita, Kans., and nine grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She worshiped with the Salvation Army for many years, but the last two years she has made the Jesus Name Mission of Knoxville her church home. She was a good neighbor, a faithful wife and a kind and loving mother.
Funeral services were conducted at the Jesus Name Mission by Elder D. D. Dainty. Interment at Graceland cemetery.
