Rites Held For Mt. View Resident
Private funeral services were held this afternoon for Elizabeth Camp Whaley, 89, a 30-year-resident of Mountain View, who died Wednesday in a local rest home after a five-year period of failing health.
Mrs. Whaley and her late husband, Oscar, lived in Mountain View for 30 years while he was assistant manager of the Farmers and Merchants Bank. They lived on California Street and on Dana Street.
Before becoming ill, Mrs. Whaley lived with her son, Paul Camp Whaley, at 801 Winchester Rd., Burlingame. She also leaves a brother, Wilbur L. Camp of Mountain View. She was a native of Iowa.
Interment was in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto. The Hays Funeral Home, 795 Cuesta Dr., Mountain View, was in charge of arrangements.
Source: newspaper name and date unknownHarvey, August 20: During the past week the ashes of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Whaley were interred in the Eureka cemetery. The container was sent by Express from California to E. E. Larew, caretaker of the cemetery. The burial was on the parental Wilson Whaley lot, a stone already having been placed. A nephew, Wilson Whaley, of Deep River, and Mr. Larew, a relative took care of all arrangements. Mr. Whaley died about a year ago and Mrs. Whaley just recently. Oscar was raised on his father’s farm in the Eureka neighborhood.
