John S. Gray

A Well Known Citizen of Jackson Passes Away

On Thursday March 21, after a protracted struggle with ill health, John S. Gray, one of the old and best known citizens of Jackson township, passed into the great unknown. He came to Lucas county from northern Indiana in 1850, and at the time of his death was almost 80 years of age. His companion proceded him to the grave but is survived by three sons and a daughter. In the earlier days he settled into Benton township, but later removed to the western part of the county and was a man of affairs. It is said Mr. Gray burned the lime which entered into the construction of the old court house.
