Angelena Theresa Read was born in England April 15th, 1833. In 1860 she was married to Amos Hall Stote, and in 1870 they came to the United States to make their future home.
Eight children were born to Rev. and Mrs. Stote, two of whom died in infancy.
The six who survive their father and mother are Kate E. Stote, who remained at home with her parents, Mrs. R. G. Kimble,of Galesburg, Ill., W. H. Stote of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dr. F. C. Stote of Chariton, Iowa, Dr. A. B. Stote, of Kansas City, F. Amos Stote of New York City, N. Y. During the last 13 years Mrs. Stote had made her home in Russell, Iowa. Mr. Stote died a little over a year ago, after nearly fifty years of active service in the ministry of the Baptist church. He filled pastorates in Earles Colne, England, and after coming to this country filled seven important pastorates as follows - Cleveland, Ohio, Logansport, Indiana, Joliet and Sterling, Ill., Lawrence and Kansas City, Kansas, and Russell, Iowa.
Mrs. Stote leaves behind her the sweet fragrance of a beautiful christian life, which shall long live in the hearts of her many friends, who join with the members of her family, not only in mourning her loss, but in rejoicing in her joyful translation to her eternal rest.
The funeral services were conducted by the pastor of the Presbyterian church, assisted by the pastor of the M. E. church of Russell.
