On Friday evening there came a knock at the door of the Miller home, about twelve miles east of Chariton. When the door was opened the good wife found that death had come to take away her beloved husband. Mr. Miller has been a resident of Lucas county for several years, for which time he has been confined to the house with rheumatism. Three weeks ago he was taken with scarlet fever which hastened his death.

He was a member of the Church of Christ at Belinda and was always kind and cheerful, having a vision of the promise of the Father's home.

Fred Miller was born April 13, 1879, at Orwayna, Kansas, died at home March 3, 1916, aged 37 years, 10 months and 28 days. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, one daughter, father, mother, two brothers, four sisters, besides a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held at the home conducted by the pastor, Elder McKim, and interment made in the Columbia cemetery.

Chariton Leader, Thursday March 9, 1916
