Maxine Jennings
May 14, 2011

Maxine V. Jones was born October 2, 1913, in Ward, Iowa to Charles and Floy Buchanon Jones. Her parents were blessed with four children: Maxine, Nadine, Charles, and Daryl. Maxine married Harry Jennings and were blessed with three children: Shirley, Joyce, and Robert. Maxine lived most of her life in Chariton, and briefly in Florida, Texas, and Des Moines. She worked for Morgan's as a waitress for many years. Maxine enjoyed many things; gardening, the outdoors, her family, and her dog Zip. She also enjoyed watching television, being close to her family, and Maxine was always happy. She loved her visits from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Maxine also treasured her trips around the Midwest with her sister, Nadine. The greatest attribute Maxine had was her ability to stretch the dollar. This was because of the era in which she grew up. Maxine still has great compassion for her family, friends, and just about anyone she meets. Maxine passed away May 14, 2011 at the Chariton Nursing & Rehab Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, son Robert, grandson, Bruce Jennings; and brothers: Charles "Buster" and Daryl Jones. Maxine is survived by her daughters: Shirley (Larry) McCauley of Carlisle and Joyce (Don) Peterson of Chariton; 6 grandchildren: Debbie Peterson, Doug McCauley, Denise McCauley, Cindy Masters Moody, Mala Thomas, and Paul Scott Peterson; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, Tues 17 May 2011.
