Died, at his farm home in Welsh Neighborhood, at 5 a. m. Saturday, September 15, 1900, David N. Jones, of cancer of the stomach and liver. Deceased was born January 15, 1824, at the Raven Inn Cwmaman, South Wales, his parents being William and Hannah Jones. At an early age he was placed in an Episcopal school, it being his father's wish that he fit himself for a clergyman in the Established church. School, however, became distasteful to him and he longed for greater freedom; so throwing off restraint, he emigrated to America in 1853 and settled in Newark O. While there he apprenticed himself to a carpenter and joiner and, in time, became a master at his trade. In 1855 he came to Louisa county where he spent the remainder of his life.

January 7, 1863 he was married to Miss Margaret Anwyl, second daughter of Eban and Elizabeth Owen Anwyl, who proved to him a worthy help mate. Three children were born to them, Hannah Elizabeth, Emma, now Mrs. J. A. Jones, of Washington, and William E.

Mr. Jones united with the Congregational church and was an ever faithful, useful member. He was clerk of the church. His departure is a great loss to the church and especially the Sunday school.

In politics Mr. Jones was an ardent Republican and always served his party faithfully and well. He held the office of township trustee for nine years. His last illness was an exceedingly painful one. He always led an active life until last March his health became much impaired and he grew rapidly worse. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Monday afternoon. The church was filled to its utmost capacity and many could not gain admission. Interment was in Cambrian cemetery.
