A months sickness of nearly every member of Mr. Jos. Shafer's family with patient nursing almost day and night, brought some hope of recovery, but a change to worse on the evening of August 13 death closed the mothers suffering; upon her funeral day ere her remains were carried from the chapel, the darkness of death enveloped little Fannie also. Rev. Jesse Walker conducted the funeral services of both, in the M. E. Church. The mothers at 4 p. m. August 14, the daughters at 10 a. m. August 15, 1884. The ages of Mary Shafer and daughter Fannie Shafer were 42 years, 8 months and 5 days and 5 years, 7 months and 13 days.
